Selling a Home That’s Been on the Marketplace
Your home has been sitting on the housing marketplace for months and no matter what you do, the interest in buying it just isn’t there. If this is your case, here are some tips for you on selling a home that’s been on the marketplace for awhile:
1. Analyze why it is that your home isn’t selling. There are some reasons outside of your home itself that could be causing some problems (i.e. housing recession). Are other homes in your area selling or are they sitting on the market for months at a time too? Look into market trends in your area before you start making any major changes to your home.
2. A major selling point for a home is if the buyer sees the price as “fair”. If you are attempting to ask for more money than what you home is worth, then consumers will look at other homes to buy.
3. If your home is in need of upgrades, take care of them right away. Remember, minor updates such as painting the walls and replacing carpeting can increase the interest of potential buyers. Don’t forget the curb appeal too. A buyers first impression will come from first seeing the outside of the home and the landscaping.
4. If you don’t have a real estate agent, get one. Real estate agents are experts at selling homes for the best price possible and know how to help a home sell that has been on the marketplace for awhile. They also may have ways of listing homes that you don’t.
